Kareem Elbayar is Technology Partnerships Adviser to the Director of the Corporate Programmes Division at the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs. Previously, Kareem served as a Programme Manager for the UN Office for Project Services overseeing projects in Erbil and Baghdad, Iraq.
In that role, Kareem designed and implemented the Iraq IDP Information Centre, a free hotline for Iraqi displaced persons to request humanitarian assistance and provide feedback on the humanitarian response. Kareem also managed a small grant fund for Iraqi NGOs, a project on national reconciliation for the UN Assistance Mission for Iraq's Office of Political Affairs, and other initiatives.
Prior to joining the UN, Kareem worked as a Legal Advisor at the International Center for Not-for-Profit Law, specializing in freedom of association in the Arab world. Kareem holds a Juris Doctor and Masters in International Affairs from the George Washington University in Washington, DC.
