Solving Networking Challenges from the Edge to the Core

Abstract

Everyone is moving their services to the edge of their networks. With the increasing popularity of edge data centers and edge compute resources, network service providers are seeing an increased demand for robust network services from the edge to the core.

Increasingly, more processes can be moved to the edge of a network, but many processes must remain in the core of the network. How do you get from the edge to the core and back again quickly? Efficient communication between the edge and the core of the network remains a difficult challenge for many businesses. This talk will present various networking challenges from the edge to the core, and solutions devised by edge computing providers, edge data centers, and network service providers.

What are the networking challenges faced in edge computing from cloud service providers, CDNs, and content providers? What solutions for communicating between the edge and the core of their network have they implemented?

From the perspective of edge data centers, what trends are they seeing?  How are they helping to solve the problem of reaching not just the eyeballs, but the core?

Finally, when it comes to network service providers, what demands are they seeing from their customers? What existing solutions have proven effective, and what are some innovative solutions that are emerging?

Will the need for scalable network service between the edge and the core ever go away? If not, how can companies solve existing communication problems on their own networks? By presenting common problems and solutions faced by a variety of businesses in the industry, we’ll take a look at some of the challenges in network services between the edge to the core, and how some companies have solve these challenges.
