Chuck Schumann

Vice President, Pacific Dataport Inc.

Chuck Schumann is the Vice President of Microcom and a founder of Pacific Dataport Inc. He has over 38 years of experience in the satellite communications industry in Alaska, Russia, Hawaii and the lower 48. Chuck founded Microcom in 1984 to focus on satellite communications projects and has been responsible for many “firsts” for the industry in Alaska. Bringing the first full time network (ABC) television to Alaska, the first Ku-band business network (Alyeska Pipeline Service Co.) and pioneering direct-to-consumer satellite services in Alaska to name a few. He co-founded the Anchorage teleport that would become Pacific Dataport in 1988. Working in Russia in the early 1990s he was instrumental in the development of the first private international networks in the Russian Far East. PDI is now focused on another first for Alaska; building and launching Aurora IV as a regional HTS satellite. He attended his first PTC in 1985.
