Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence will impact the telecoms industry in diverse ways in coming years. It will touch internal operations through improved network management/planning, automated customer service and chatbots. It should enable new services and revenue opportunities in verticals, or by spotting patterns in operational data that yield unique insights.
Yet telcos have to work with (or around or against) the big IT and Internet players, which can invest huge sums to create proprietary AI tools and hire super-skilled staff. At the same time, users will be deploying AI “against” the telecoms industry, negotiating better deals, using least-cost-routing and managing computing tasks offline rather than via the network.
The panel session will bring together a collection of specialists to take a broad view of AI and ML from a telco perspective – and shed light on both opportunities and risks.
